Our Devotion

The Seven Sorrows of Mary

Each sorrow is a station of meditation on Our Lady's compassion, walked in prayer by the faithful of this parish.

I. The Prophecy of Simeon

Mary heard Simeon's prophecy that a sword of sorrow would pierce her soul. She accepted God's plan with faith and humility.

II. The Flight into Egypt

Mary fled to Egypt with Jesus and Joseph to escape danger. She trusted God completely during this difficult journey.

III. Loss of the Child Jesus

Mary searched anxiously for Jesus for three days. Her joy returned when she found Him in the Temple.

IV. Meeting Jesus on the Way to Calvary

Mary encountered Jesus carrying His Cross to Calvary. Her heart suffered deeply as she witnessed His pain.

V. Standing at the Cross

Mary stood beneath the Cross as Jesus gave His life for humanity. She remained faithful even in her greatest sorrow.

VI. Receiving the Body of Jesus

Mary received the lifeless body of Jesus into her arms. She mourned her beloved Son with profound grief.

VII. The Burial of Jesus

Mary watched as Jesus was laid in the tomb. Despite her sorrow, she trusted in God's promise of resurrection.

Our Lady of Seven Dolours Church, popularly known as Palayakovil, has its origins dating back to the early 1700s. Built through the missionary efforts of the renowned Jesuit missionary Veeramamunivar (Fr.
